• Gregory L. Benik, Esq. – Executive Vice President & General Counsel


Mr. Benik is a nationally recognized environmental and energy attorney responsible for the legal and regulatory activities at Homeland. During his 30-year legal career, Mr. Benik has represented major chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, utility and energy companies and has obtained extensive experience and expertise in developing and permitting complex energy and infrastructure projects. His clients have included Key Span Energy, Hess Oil, National Grid, Covanta Energy, AES, Raytheon, Honeywell and AMGEN. 

His experience includes extensive involvement in the development and permitting of gas and coal-fired power plants, LNG facilities, hazardous and solid waste incinerators, and natural gas and water pipelines. Prior to joining Homeland, Mr. Benik was a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP and formerly a partner and co-chair of the National Environmental Practice Group at Holland & Knight LLP.

  • Dr. Victor E. Gatto, President and Co-Chief Executive Officer

 
Dr. Gatto has over 30 years of experience as a leader of teams in companies and on athletic fields. Dr. Gatto’s background as a corporate executive, teacher/coach, and athlete has helped him develop strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills that have been instrumental in bringing together highly talented and successful management teams. Prior to starting Homeland in 2007, Dr. Gatto was COO and Principal of Caletta Renewables, which is active with a number of renewable energy initiatives to deploy innovative and proprietary gasification technology to convert available biomass feed stocks into electric power for sale to commercial customers. 

Dr. Gatto’s initial experience in the business of converting less expensive feed stocks into valuable products was gained over a seven year period during which time he developed the key governmental business sector for the environmental company, Molten Metal Technology, Inc. (“MMT”). Under his leadership as President of Molten Metal Technology of Tennessee, the Government and Nuclear Sector of MMT produced more than $140 million dollars in revenue (99% of MMT’s non-interest business revenuefor the years 1992-1996), and the sector grew from one person to more than 200 employees in five years. Under his leadership, the company entered into two key strategic partnerships, a $70 million joint venture with Westinghouse and a $90 million partnership with Lockheed Martin Corporation. 

​Prior to his leadership of Caletta, Dr. Gatto served as Chairman and CEO of Achieve Telecom Network, a telecommunications carrier that provides distance learning transmission services. Dr. Gatto continues to serve as Chairman of Achieve Telecom Network. 

Prior to his involvement with Achieve Telecom, Dr. Gatto led The Northland Group (“Northland”) a business development and capital formation company. Northland enabled new technologies in telecommunications and energy to get to market and assisted the technology developers with the creation and implementation of business, financial and capital plans needed for success. Dr. Gatto directed the creation of several manufacturing companies that focused on the commercialization of technologies from Oak Ridge National Lab for application to several industries including the conversion of depleted uranium hexafluoride, homeland security issues, and a model distance learning delivery service for the City of Atlanta and surrounding counties.

  • Charles Dornbush, COO & Co-Chief Executive Officer


Mr. Dornbush brings over 30 years of executive management and entrepreneurial experience to the development of Homeland Fuels. Mr. Dornbush was founder and CEO of Athenium, a fifteen year old successful performance improvement technology company and also the founder of Athenium Capital, a humanitarian project funding company.  Mr. Dornbush has considerable experience in developing, launching, and operating new businesses.  Prior to launching Athenium, Mr. Dornbush contributed to the growth of Fidelity Investments for 11 years in numerous roles including Executive Vice President of Marketing and Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Dornbush created and launched a number of product lines and businesses for Fidelity.  Mr. Dornbush’s earlier career includes senior corporate management positions, consulting positions with the Boston Consulting Group, and technology positions with several innovative technology companies.   Mr. Dornbush has founded or helped manage the launch of 7 companies and is currently on the Board of Directors of 5 for-profit and 2 non-profit entities. Mr. Dornbush received his bachelor’s degree with highest honors in Physics from the University of Michigan and a MBA degree from the Harvard Business School, where he is past president of the Boston Harvard Business School Alumni Association.
